It is pretty simple. If you want to do it by using public transportation you only have to find the Route 1 and Route 2 buses (aka R1 and R2). They travel almost all of the Cancun Hotel Zone in both ways starting from the downtown area of Cancun. If you rent a car and you are coming from the airport all you have to do is to follow the signs of the highway. The Hotel Zones’ Main Avenue is called Kukulcan Boulevard.
Where do I begin?
Are you one of those who even during vacations never skip a training day? At the very beginning (aka kilometer 0) you will find an outdoor gym and a bicycle track that runs for several miles. It is an excellent way to start the day discovering a part of the Hotel Zone.
We have heard shopping is good to fight stress. For a relaxing time, you must spend an evening in this shopping plazas. The first and newest one is Marina Town Center in Puerto Cancun, located at the begging of the Hotel Zone coming from the downtown area. The bus (R1 and R2) will drop you just a couple of minutes away walking from it.
The next stop is at the most popular shopping mall in Cancun. La Isla Shopping Village is located at the kilometer 12. You will have a fantastic view of the lagoon while you have dinner or an ice-cream. For this one, the bus will drop you at the entrance.
You may also visit Kukulcan Plaza and Luxury Avenue Boutique Mall, half a mile next to La Isla. You will find a variety of stores and restaurants too. Tip: behind this mall is public access to a beach called “Marlin.”
If you are driving, don’t worry all these options have their own parking lot.
Did you say beach?
All the way through the Cancun Hotel Zone you will find different public access to the beach. Some of them have facilities like sunbeds, palapas, bathrooms and changing rooms. Every beach of Cancun has its own charm, but these are some spots that you must visit. The Cancun Lighthouse, at the kilometer 8. To get there, you have to enter through the access to Caracol beach, walk to your left, in front of a couple of resorts until you reach a little beach with rocks and the lighthouse. More and more stuff to do here.
Visit the Rotating Scenic Tower. If you have plans to visit Xoximilco or any other of our Parks, keep your bracelet on because this is your free entrance to it. Enjoy the most incredible panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupte lagoon at a 260 feet height. There’s a bus stop near to the entrance and also a parking lot. It is located at the kilometer 3.
A walk through the Art Garden. It is a calm walkway beside the lagoon, a good place to relax or have a picnic. To arrive take as reference the Scenic Tower and you will find the walkway on the side of the lagoon. If you are driving, you can park at the Langosta beach parking lot.
Souvenirs are part of the vacation. Take a visit to the Coral Negro Flea Market. Here you will find art crafts and gifts of Cancun for all the family. It is located at kilometer 9.
To spend a romantic time visit the new Wheel of Fortune. It is 196 feet tall and is located at La Isla Shopping Village. It works from Monday to Sunday and it’s a very good option to watch a sunset with a special touch.
Our very last recommendation and the farthest point is to visit a spot where the lagoon connects with the sea. Punta Nizuc is the most southerly point of the island. But to be very accurate, you should visit a local restaurant at the shore. To get there is the same buses as always but they will drop you 5 minutes away from here, so from the last bus stop you should take a taxi and ask for the Río Nizuc Restaurant. The view is amazing and you will have the chance to try some local fresh seafood.
